President of the Turks and Caicos Islands Bar Association Pays Tribute to Outgoing President of the Caribbean Court of Justice

As the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) prepares to host a Special Ceremonial Sitting on Tuesday, 3rd June 2025, in honour of the retirement of The Honourable Mr Justice Adrian Saunders, I am pleased to join with colleagues across the region in celebrating the tremendous contribution of this jurist of distinction.

Justice Saunders’ career spans nearly 30 years, including his service as President of the CCJ since 2018. His judicial leadership has shaped Caribbean legal institutions in transformative ways—introducing court-connected mediation, enhancing judicial education, and promoting ethical governance and rule of law throughout the region.
We in the Turks and Caicos Islands were especially honoured to welcome Justice Saunders to our jurisdiction on 4 January 2022, when he delivered the keynote address at the inaugural Sir Richard Ground Lecture Series—a flagship event initiated by Her Ladyship Chief Justice Mabel Agyemang as part of the first annual Judiciary Gala. It was also a special evening in that we had the privilege of celebrating his birthday alongside members of the Bench and Bar, marking a memorable milestone in both his life and our legal community.

On behalf of the Turks and Caicos Islands Bar Association, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Justice Saunders. His legacy of service, scholarship, and regional commitment will continue to inspire us all. We thank him for his extraordinary leadership and wish him continued fulfilment in his next chapter.

Mark A. Fulford
President
Turks and Caicos Islands Bar Association
